Volunteer

Riea is nearing the completion of her Bachelor’s degree in Speech Sciences with a minor in Special Education at the University of British Columbia. She aspires to study at the UBC School of Audiology and Speech Sciences to become a Speech-Language Pathologist.

As a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant, Riea has extensive experience with children who are on the autism spectrum and those from the deaf or hard of hearing community. She also volunteers for organizations that offer support to youth with autism, through the Canucks Autism Network, and post-stroke seniors with Aphasia, Dysarthria, Dysphagia, and Apraxia through After Stroke BC. There, she creates inclusive environments to support healthy learning and provides communication assistance using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and communication key wording.

In her free time, you can find Riea immersing herself in academic research creation, where she creates senior patient-oriented healthcare research as a volunteer research assistant at UBC. You can also find Riea online, posting educational content for youth on linguistic literature and speech-language pathology through her organization, Because the Youth Cares.

She is thrilled to join the exceptional team at Advantage, and is committed to provide outstanding support to clients from diverse identities and cultures!
